TitleGold returns to the top table
ContentIn a world of growing financial instability and negative interest rates, gold and silver are returning to the forefront of investors’ minds as pre-eminent monetary substitutes. TitleAccessing investment opportunities within Emerging Markets Corporate debt with an active approach
ContentVontobel emerging-market strategies offer investors access to the emerging corporate bond universe, and thus the potential to capture attractive growth rates and yields. We do this through a highly distinctive approach which is based on both qualitative and quantitative considerations. Our contrarian process differentiates from most other emerging-bond strategies by having a significant focus on a more “bottom-up, country-by-country and bond-by-bond” approach rather than the more usual top-down macro approach. We focus on liquidity, sizing and diversification of issuers in order to limit downside risk.
BiogWouter Van Overfelt joined Vontobel Asset Management in April 2013 as Portfolio Manager within the emerging markets bonds team. Prior to joining Vontobel, he headed the business control of the central portfolio management unit within Gaz de France (GDP) Suez. Before Joining GDF, from 2008 to 2012, he worked at Dexia. From 2008-2010 he worked as portfolio manager and quantitative analyst within the fixed income team at Dexia Asset Management. In this role he was responsible for the management of bond funds and the development and back-testing of trading strategies and quantitative models. From 2010 to 2012 he was senior credit risk modeller and member of the credit portfolio modelling and pricing team at Dexia Group. Wouter Van Overfelt holds a PhD as well as a Master’s in Applied Economics from the University of Antwerp.
