First State’s Andrew Harman to attend Lausanne Summit
Andrew Harman, portfolio manager at First State Investments, will outline his approach to multi-asset investing when he presents at the Pan-European Summit Lausanne 2017, taking place 26-28 April at the Beau-Rivage Palace.
Harman will argue that in an environment of political uncertainty, low growth and low expected returns, and amid various investment goals, it is not enough to rely on long-term average market returns, especially as investors do not have infinite time horizons. Asset allocation decisions need to address specific time horizons, and market risk, which points to multi-asset investing.
Harman joined First State Investments in 2008. He became a Portfolio Manager within the multi-asset solutions team in 2010. In 2015 he launched the manager’s diversified growth fund for the UK market. Ongoing responsibilities include research, market analysis and construction of proprietary investment models. Harman holds a Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance) from Queensland University of Technology and a Graduate Certificate in Mathematics from the University of Technology, Sydney.
