France & Overall WinnerRégis PinguetHead of Fund SelectionCNP Assurances
With a career stretching back to 1978, Régis Pinguet brings a significant level of past experience to the role he has held for the past decade as head of the fund selection and analysis department of CNP Assurances – although he has been at the listed French insurer for close to 30 years. Leading a team of three overseeing fund selection affecting some €50bn in assets, his is not a role intended to support quick turnover; strategies tend to manage €500m-€3bn, while the average investment ticket is in the €200m-€300m range. As he noted to InvestmentEurope: “Those levels are very useful for us and the manager. If our control ratio stands at a too high level in a strategy, the fund will face a major risk in the event we exit it.” Selecting on behalf of insurance company assets means that solvency capital requirements tend to slip into discussions with managers, along with commitment to UN PRI, as CNP Assurances is itself a signatory.
