Jeremy Smouha of GAM to speak at Copenhagen Forum
Jeremy Smouha, CEO of Atlanticomnium (UK) Ltd, and a founding member of GAM, will be discussing high income opportunities when he speaks at the upcoming Fund Selector Forum Denmark, taking place in Copenhagen 22 September.
With ongoing record low interest rates and yields, many investors are seeking higher levels of income by moving into bonds of companies or countries that carry more risk. However, Smouha will outline ways that similar income levels may be achieved by looking at bonds lower down the capital structure of investment grade companies. Here, default risk is key, but the approach is based on the premise that such companies rarely default.
Smouha is a senior adviser to GAM and CEO of Atlanticomnium (UK) Ltd. He joined his family firm in 2012 to establish a branch in London with which GAM has a long standing relationship. He was previously a director at GAM co-managing a range of GAM funds based on managed portfolios strategies, became a member of GAM’s Investment Committee for Managed Portfolios in 1998, and was a bond fund manager between 1985 and 1998. Smouha was a founding member of GAM, joining in 1983. Prior to that, he was a fund manager managing Asian equities at Arbuthnot Latham. Mr Smouha holds an MA Cantab Hons in Economics from the University of Cambridge.
