Lombard Odier IM’s Gregor Gawron to attend Stockholm Summit

Gregor Gawron, head of Insurance Linked Securities at Lombard Odier Investment Managers will outline the investment opportunities in the asset class when he presents at the upcoming Pan-Nordic Summit Stockholm 2016, taking place 14-15 March at the Grand Hotel.

Insurance linked securities (ILS, also known as catastrophe or Cat bonds) are instruments are typically strutured as fixed income securities, but because they offer exposure to insurance risks can act as a diversifier in a portfolio. Returns from the asset class depend on factors such as natural catastrophes rather than equity or stock market returns, so the ILS instruments work independent of the macroeconomic cycle.

And because the instruments typically pay floating coupons on a quarterly basis, there is less sensitivity to interest rate changes than more traditional fixed income instruments.

Gregor Gawron joined LOIM in August 2015. Previously,  he worked at Dynapartners where he was responsible for the ILS offering, and before that he was at Falcon Private Bank Ltd. in the role of head Insurance Linked and Quantitative Solutions. A previous role to that was as senior portfolio manager at RMF/Man Investments, responsible for selecting, monitoring and managing alternative investments.

Before joining RMF in 2002, Gawron was a research associate at the University of Basel in the field of quantitative finance. Gregor earned his doctorate in finance from the University of Basel in Switzerland. He holds a Master of Science in economics from the University of Karlstad in Sweden.
