Magda Branet of First State Investments to talk EMD at Paris Roundtable

Magda Branet, senior portfolio manager in the Emerging Markets Debt team at First State Investments will highlight the risks and opportunities seen in the asset class when she takes part in the Fund Selector Roundtable Paris on 11 February.

Among the factors being considered are the role of central banks, the slowing of China’s economic growth, and the degree to which emerging markets offer good economic fundamentals.

Currently it is challenging to talk about emerging markets, but there is significant dispertion in their performance and active management can help assess the relative valuations and technical differences, according to Branet.

At First State Investments she is responsible for coverage of Africa, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Eastern Europe. Before joining FSI in February 2015, she pent 10 years with AXA Investment Managers in Paris. Therewhe was an Emerging Markets strategist in the Research and Strategy department, then a portfolio manager in the Emerging Markets Fixed Income team.
