Murray Birt brings ESG investing topic to Reykjavik Roundtable

Deutsche AM’s vice president Murray Birt will take part to the upcoming Reykjavik Roundtable 2017 to be held on 5 September at the Hilton Reykjavik Nordica hotel.

Birt will be speaking on the new trends and prospects of responsible investing (ESG), which have increasingly become a topic for investors with $21trn of assets invested in ESG or sustainable strategies globally in aggregate.

Prior to his current role, Birt was supporting senior management leadership in the area of climate finance and implementing the company’s climate change business strategy.

Before joining the firm in 2011, he worked with companies developing consensus policy positions. He also lobbied UK and European governments on energy and climate change policies at the Confederation of British Industry.

Birt, who holds a BA in Economics from University of Calgary as well as a MSc in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford University, started his career in consulting, policy research and program support for energy efficiency, renewable energy and carbon markets in Canada.

During the event, four leading asset management companies will also be presenting their strategies to top investment professionals in the region.
