Sam Shapiro from GSAM joins Miami Summit
Sam Shapiro, client portfolio manager, Quantitative Investment Strategies at Goldman Sachs Asset Management will discuss the investment implications of so called ‘Big Data’ when he joins the Fund Selector Summit Miami, taking place at the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne on 7-8 May.
With figures suggesting that the amount of data being created globally is growing sharply – IBM says over 90% of data in existence was created in just the past two years – there is an increasing transformational pressure on all industries, including asset management. Shapiro will discuss how GSAM is using Big Data to generate investment insights and identify investment opportunities.
Shapiro is a member of the Quantitative Investment Strategies team working on research, strategy and client communication for the manager’s suite of active equity portfolios. Previously, he was a research associate on the Institutional Investor ranked quantitative strategy research team at Sanford C. Bernstein and Co., where he focused on global equities.
