Spectrum’s Matthew Byer to join Lausanne Summit
Matthew Byer, executive director and COO of Spectrum Asset Management, an affiliate of Principal Global Investors, will outline the opportunities in preferrred securities when he speaks at the upcoming Pan-European Summit Lausanne 19-21 April.
The investment opportunities have been driven by regulatory change, including the Dodd-Frank Act in the US, Basel III, and Solvency II in the EU, which are seen as creating benefits for investors in preferred securities at a time when fixed income yields are at historic lows. Among the benefits cited include diversification for investor’s portfolios.
Byer joined Spectrum in 2007 and held the position of senior vice president with responsibilities for various areas of business and product development, client relations and asset management, until his appointment as COO on 1 January 2010.
Previously, he was vice president and director, Investment Banking, at AG Edwards where he served as a senior member of the Financial Services Group for eight years. He started his career in 1991 as a lawyer with Armstrong Teasdale LLP where his practice included the representation of issuers and underwriters of preferred securities. He holds a BSc in Mathematics and a JD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is a member of the Missouri and Illinois bar.
