Unigestion’s Maria Musiela to join Stockholm Forum

Maria Musiela, investment specialist, Equities, at Unigestion is set to take part in the upcoming Fund Selector Forum Stockholm 2016, taking place 1 December at The Grand Hotel.

Musiela will be tackling the issue of risk-managed equity investing at a time of volatile markets in which assumptions of correlation between asset classes are being tested amid concerns over diverging monetary and fiscal policy.

Other risks that can be managed include credit, earnings, liquidity, valuation and ESG. Systematic approaches can help manage such risks, but Musiela will argue that it is also important to implement qualitative analysis of top down and bottom up fundamentals. It is also important to understand that risks can change over time, meaning it is important to maintain ongoing research.

Musiela joined Unigestion in October 2015. She began her career in 1998 as a financial analyst/trader at Credit Suisse Asset Management in Sydney, initially in the fixed income team and later in equities. In 2004, she transferred to Credit Suisse Asset Management in London, as a quantitative analyst focusing on equities. In 2009, she joined the Personal Accounts Delivery Authority, which later became known as the National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) Corporation. She joined initially as an investment research analyst, and later became head of Quantitative Research and finally in 2012, head of Market Risk and Asset Allocation.

Musiela holds a masters in Finance from Imperial College London as well as a BSc in Commerce and a BSc in Science from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
