Advent Software looks to take mobility further in H1 2013
Advent Software is to begin testing upgrades of its software on iPads with select clients and is set to move to a broader rollout of its products across mobile platforms in the first half of 2013, the company told a client conference in London.
The Best Practices in Asset and Wealth Management event updated both existing and potential customers about the company’s development roadmap in coming quarters.
Daniel Eriksson, vice president of Product Management & Solution Consulting EMEA, said that the ability to use Advent’s software and solutions in more mobile environments, in addition to desktop situations, is a key part of its development strategy as it is becoming clear that increasing numbers of users want this capability.
Mobile solutions are being coupled to the company’s move to offer more cloud based solutions, and developments to improve the user experience of searching out and more easily presenting data on funds and portfolios.
There is a growing need for data presentation that not only speaks to licenced users, but also to the clients in a way that they can more easily digest, for example, in client meetings. Advent has worked with design consultants at Frog to develop the look and feel of its products, including improving the way so-called dashboards can work on behalf of users.
Improved dashboard content is one of the key upgrades set for release during October this year, along with greater integration of trading data, for example from Bloomberg Trading, as well as additions and improvements to reconcilliation functions.
Future work is set to develop the range of instrument coverage, also in the area of alternative investments, and offer greater ‘look-through’ at underlying exposure in response to the need for managers to show this if they want to sell to the insurance industry under Solvency II.
In general there will be ongoing investment to respond to regulatory issues such as Fatca, Solvency II, Basel and other banking regulations, because it ultimately impacts on clients of the company, Eriksson said.
Eriksson summed up its development as being driven under the banners “User centric, Unified experience, Cloud delivered, Cross platform (across both wealth management and alternatives products it offers), Reliable and fast, Open ecosystem”.
Advent provides solutions in the areas of portfolio management and accounting, investor accounting and servicing, margin and debit financing, research management, trading and order management, compliance, billing and fee management, fund distribution, and custodial and market data.
