CISI and EBC launch bond interest group

A new bond interest group has been launched by the CISI, in partnership with the European Bond Commission (EBC) of the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS).

The inaugural meeting will be held on 31 May will be chaired by Con Keating, head of research at Brighton Rock Group and member of the EBC Executive Committee. The group, which will be made up of CISI members, will discuss debt management and the gilt market.

The CISI has teamed up with EBC after joining EFFAS last year, to launch the new interest group. The group aims to host discussions and presentations on topics related to the bond and derivative markets. The EFFAS EBC has for many years represented the interests of fixed income analysts and investment managers across Europe.

CISI managing director Ruth Martin was confident that CISI members will benefit from the partnership with the EBC of EFFAS. She added: “The CISI is keen to launch a joint forum with colleagues working in Europe. Whereas our existing professional interest forums already cover issues of bonds in their different ways, the whole focus of this group is Europe.”

Meetings of the group will initially be held in London, but future events are anticipated to take place in Europe.
