Data governance key development for buy side firms, says SimCorp paper
SimCorp, which provides asset management and portfolio technology solutions, has published a paper developed by consultancy Investit, which points to data governance being a key factor in ensuring data quality for buy side firms.
The paper – Data governance: key contributor to successful data management strategy – highlights areas in which firms can benefit from a more coherent approach to using data.
Many firms spend a lot on technology, but few extract all the value they should from this spend, the paper suggests. Good governence can ensure that data management is improved across the whole organsiation, that confidence in the integrity and quality of data can remain high, and tha risk can be managed through data quality control.
John Robertshaw, author of the paper and principal within Investit’s Operations Practice, said: “Investment management firms are starting to grasp the importance of defining and establishing a governance framework to ensure delivery of a cost-effective, flexible, scalable and sustainable data management solution. Data governance can be a major contributor to aligning and improving an enterprise-wide dialogue in data.”
