Eurozone unemployment stable while inflation falls – Eurostat
Eurozone unemployment stayed at 12.0% for the fourth month running while inflation remained steady at 0.8%, the latest report from Eurostat has showed.
The jobless rate stayed at 12% in January for the third month as expected, while inflation fell to 0.8%. The news increased fears of deflation in the euro area, which ECB’s president Draghi keeps denying.
Just yesterday, Draghi (pictured) said that the eurozone wasn’t experiencing deflation and that inflation expectations for the region were in line with the ECB’s aim of keeping inflation close to 2%.
