Few consistent fund sectors in past 18 months, S&P Capital IQ research finds
S&P Capital IQ’s latest global sector trends research suggests that just two – biotech and healthcare – have been able to achieve positive returns in both 2011 and the first half of 2012.
The research covers funds investing in specific sectors, while allowing for variations in mandates and styles.
Through 2011 the worst performing were environmental technology, financials and gold&mining – all down more than 20%
Gold, mining and resources have continued to struggle through 2012.
In contrast, global property equity has staged a strong rebound through this year, although certain signs point to renewed weakness in the sector.
