GAM gets senior man from Man
GAM has appointed Anthony Lawler from rival Man to be a memaber of the senior management team and investment committee of its multi-manager group.
He will focus on growing the Swiss company’s funds of hedge funds offerings in the US, and following a well-established trend in the fund of funds industry, on building customised portfolios.
He will also become co-manager for the GAM Diversity Institutional strategy, which he will run together with industry veteran and chief investment officer of GAM Multi-Manager and member of GAM’s executive management committee, David Smith.
At Man previously, Lawler was head of portfolio management, and before that head of hedge fund research at Glenwood Capital Investments.
Smith said: “Institutions are set to become our largest client group in funds of hedge funds, and their need for customised solutions remains an important growth driver.
“We are committed to further expanding our leadership position in this market, especially in the US – the largest market for institutional investment in the world.”
