HSBC strengthens global macro and investment strategy team
HSBC Global Asset Management has hired four people to boost its Global Macro and Investment Strategy team.
The team, led by Philip Poole in London, provides economic and strategic research for other teams at HSBC Global Asset Management, which has $430bn assets under management. The four appointments are Julien Seetharamdoo, Rabia Bhopal, Herve Lievore and Renee Chen.
Seetharamdoo has been appointed senior economist, investment strategist in London. He previously worked as an investment strategist for Coutts Investment Services, with a focus on bond markets.
Bhopal joins as an economist and investment strategist from Standard & Poor’s while Lievore, with a similar role, will be based in Hong Kong. He joins from Axa Investment Managers where he was responsible for research in commodities, Japan and emerging markets.
Chen will work with Lievore in Hong Kong, joining from Macquarie Capital Securities. She was previously at Nomura International (Hong Kong) and Citibank Taiwan. The other members of the team in London are Adam Olive and Paras Patel, who also report to Poole.
The team has a strong background in emerging markets, where HSBC GAM has some $140bn in assets under management. Poole was previously Global Head of Emerging Markets at HSBC Global Research.
