Invesco PowerShares appoints new EMEA ETF head

Invesco PowerShares has appointed Kristian Walesby at head of ETF Capital Markets EMA, as it seeks to expand its team in Europe.

Walesby will be responsible for pushing PowerShares’ capital markets strategy throughought Europe,  a role he did previously at ETF Securities. He has also worked on the Capital Markets team at iShares, the ETF business of BlackRock.

Bryon Lake, head of Invesco PowerShares, EMEA, said: “As the ETF market grows rapidly in Europe, we have been focusing on significantly boosting our team and Kris is our next significant hire to ensure we can make an impact. His role will provide an essential link to the markets and stock exchanges in this region, that will further support and empower our clients, distribution partners and internal teams on all aspects of trade execution.”

Invesco PowerShares provides exchange traded funds, and claims a first launch of so-called smart beta ETFs, first in the US then in Europe.
