Investment funds’ issue stable in Q2, EBC reports
At the end of June, the amount outstanding of shares and units issued by euro-area investment funds was almost equal to the amount in March, according to data released today by the European Central Bank (ECB).
Excluding money market funds, the amount was €6,065bn in June, while outstanding shares and units issued by eurozone money market funds increased to €969bn from €957bn during the quarter.
The annual growth rate of securities other than shares was 2.9% in June 2012, with transactions amounting to €30bn during the second quarter, the ECB said.
In the case of shares and other equity the corresponding annual growth rate was -4.2%.
In terms of the breakdown by investment policy, the annual growth rate of shares and units issued by bond funds was 4.7% in June 2012.
Transactions issued by bond funds amounted to €54bn, while the corresponding annual growth rate was -3.3%, for equity funds.
Euro-area money market funds reported an annual growth rate of securities other
than shares at 3.3% in June 2012, with transactions decreased by €32bn during the second quarter.
