Kurt Feuerman leaves Caxton to join AllianceBernstein
AllianceBernstein has appointed Kurt Feuerman from Caxton Associates, the long-standing hedge fund founded by Bruce Kovner, and will take over the management of several investment vehicles Feuerman ran while at Caxton.
These include equity growth, long/short, and alpha equity long-only strategies, according to a release issued by AllianceBernstein.
The company did not reveal how many assets could transfer to its management under the arrangement.
Feuerman will join as senior vice president and portfolio manager for US equities around the end of May, having resigned his post as a senior managing director and fund manager at the 28-year old hedge fund management firm.
AllianceBernstein lists American Growth, US Small and Mid-Cap and US Thematic Research portfolios among its equities fund products.
According to figures on AllianceBernstein’s website, these portfolios held $350m on 31 March.
Before joining Caxton, Feuerman was a managing director at Morgan Stanley, where his responsibilities included running the US equity business of Morgan Stanley Asset Management.
He has also worked as a managing director of Drexel Burnham Lambert and The Bank of New York.
Sharon Fay, AllianceBernstein’s head of equities, said: “Kurt is an accomplished investor who strengthens our equity team and brings valuable expertise in long/short portfolio management. Our firm is committed to recruiting top investment talent when the opportunity arises.”
