Macquarie boosts European investment team

Macquarie Investment Management (MIM) has announced four senior investment hires to boost its European business.

Jerry Devlin has been named as head of UK financial institutions; Richard Guerin as head of European consultant relations; Xavier Michel as manager of pooled funds; and Kate Giblin as manager of sales and marketing support.

Devlin, the new head of UK financial institutions, joins MIM from Castlestone Management, where he was global head of sales. Devlin said: “I am impressed by the quality and breadth of the Macquarie fund offering. In particular, the Asia New Stars Fund from Macquarie in Hong Kong and the US Large Cap Value Fund from Delaware Investments.  Asia New Stars was recently awarded Best Asia Pacific Small and Mid Caps Equity Fund over three years in the 2012 Lipper Funds Hong Kong Awards; while Delaware Investments was ranked first in the ‘Barrons Fund Families Report’ for 2012.  I expect these and several other investment strategies to generate a significant amount of interest across Europe.”

Guerin, head of european consultant relations for MIM, joins from Blackrock Investment Management where he was director, global consultant relations in the United Kingdom.

Michel will have oversight for Macquarie Fund Solutions, the umbrella Sicav vehicle for several of Macquarie’s pooled funds. He has previously worked at HARDT Group, HypoVereinsBank, Carr Global, LIFFE and Credit Agricole, and will be based in Vienna.

Giblin will join MIM in London as manager, sales and marketing support.

Alistair Morrison, head of European Distribution for MIM, said: “I am delighted that the strength and diversity of our product offering, combined with the opportunity to join a growing European business, has enabled us to attract such high quality people. We are building an experienced team of senior professionals devoted to providing specialist strategies to leading European institutions.”

These hires grow the MIM team in Europe to 14 staff, located in London, Munich, Frankfurt, Zurich and Vienna.
