Matthews Asia appoints Andy Rothman as investment strategist
Andy Rothman has been appointed investment strategist at Matthews Asia, bringing with him some two decades of experience living and working in China.
As such he will be working out of the manager’s San Francisco office, and be responsible for developing research focused on China’s economic and political developments.
The research will support the manager’s China investment team, and complement other types of research.
Rothman’s experience as a macroeconomic strategist at CLSA for 14 years, and previously as an expert on China within the US State Department, means he will also act as Matthews Asia’s spokesperson on China.
Robert Horrocks, CIO, said: “With nearly three decades of China experience, Andy is rightly considered a leading expert on the country’s economic and political policies. His deep understanding of the country will further enhance the already considerable expertise that resides within our investment team. He will play a leading role in shaping our thoughts on how China should be viewed at the country, regional and global level as it deepens its market-based reforms. Furthermore, Andy will be a significant asset to the investment team and he will make an important contribution to deepening our knowledge of China’s complex economic and political landscape.”
