PIMCO reinforces Emerging Markets Equity Team
Investment management company PIMCO has completed its emerging markets equity team by making five new hires in its London, New York and Singapore offices.
John Longhurst joins as senior vice president and head of emerging markets equity research, based in the London office, from Capital International Research where he was a partner.
Richard Flax joins as senior vice president and emerging markets equity analyst and will also based in the London office. Previously he was executive director of equity research for Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
Raymond Goh joins as an equity trader based in the Singapore office from Capstone Investment Advisors where he was also a trader.
Andrew Pyne joins as senior vice president and emerging markets equity product analyst based in the New York office where he will be joined by Laura Schlockman, equity product manager.
Pyne was previously a managing director at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Schlock joins from Oppenheimer Funds where she was an equity product manager.
Schroders strengthens Frankfurt distribution team
Schroders has strengthened its distribution team in Frankfurt with a senior appointment from BHF Bank. Markus Gerhardt has been an institutional client executive with Schroders since 1 October, based in Germany’s banking centre.
He is looking after mainly corporates and pension funds, reporting to Carlos Böhles, distribution head for institutional business at Schroder Investment Management GmbH.
At BHF Bank Gerhardt was a private banking adviser, assisting the existing very wealthy clients of his employer, and acquiring new ones. His responsibilities included strategic asset allocation and its tactical implementation.
State Street boosts Benelux and fixed income teams
State Street Global Advisors, the investment management business of State Street Corporation, has appointed Hein Kuijpers Head of Sales Benelux, Vice President at State Street Global Advisors.
Based in Amsterdam, Kuijpers reports to Eleanor Hope-Bell, head of the Northern Europe Intermediaries Business Group.
Kuijpers is expected to develop client relationships in the Benelux market reflecting SSGA’s aim to develop its SPDR ETF range in the region. Kuijpers was previously a sales director at Fidelity International.
SSGR has also appointed Catherine Powers as managing director and head of fixed income alpha strategies for North America. Powers joins SSGA from Standish Investment Management where she led the insurance client strategies group with a focus on customized fixed income solutions.
Powers reports to Bill Street, global head of Fixed Income Alpha Strategies. In her new role, she will manage SSGA’s fixed income alpha strategies portfolio managers based in the US and Canada.
SSGA also announced that Sandeep Bhatia will become head of fixed income alpha strategies for Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Bhatia, who was most recently a senior portfolio manager specializing in credit markets, joined SSgA in 2010 from UBS Global Asset Management, where he spent fourteen years as a portfolio manager.
He will also report to Street, and will oversee the Fixed Income Alpha Strategies portfolio managers based in the UK and Europe.
