Schroders appoints James Sym to manage European Alpha Plus Fund
Schroders has announced the appointment of James Sym as manager for the Schroder European Alpha Plus Fund, while Leon Howard-Spink will focus now solely on managing pan European portfolios as of June 2014.
James currently manages the £333m Schroder European Alpha Income fund and will continue to manage this going forward. Leon’s pan European portfolios include Schroder ISF European Special Situations.
James will use the business cycle philosophy to influence portfolio construction, similar to this approach with the Schroder European Alpha Income Fund but without the income constraint.
Commenting on the appointment, Peter Harrison, head of investment at Schroders said: “James has a very strong track record, an unconstrained investment approach consistent with client expectations for an Alpha Plus fund, and is already well known in the UK .”
“Leon fully supports this decision which is consistent with his desire to focus his efforts on managing his pan European equity portfolios. James and Leon will work together from now until the changes come into effect on 1st June to ensure a smooth transition takes place” Harrison says.
