Schroders bolsters multi-asset team
Schroders has expanded its multi-asset team with Austrian fund manager Matthias Scheiber, as investors increasingly seek strategies that can range across asset classes.
Scheiber (pictured) reports to Johanna Kyrklund, head of multi-asset investments at the €227bn manager
His appointment follows on the heels of other appointments to the UK-headquartered manager’s multi-asset team, of Aymeric Forest and Rob Hall. Forest started in May as fund manager, whereas Hall is head of manager selection, and started in March.
The team already has more than 60 members, and runs about €40bn in multi-asset investments.
Such approaches have proved popular this year among investors as a way to reduce the volatility of exposure to any individual asset class, and to explore themes via various classes, not just one.
Early this year some managers reported up 80% of net inflows went into such strategies.
Before joining the team at Schroders, Scheiber was a fund manager and partner heading the absolute return and hedge fund operations at Aethra Asset Management, a boutique wealth manager based in Amsterdam and London.
He was also responsible for building up qualitative und quantitative investment processes, and has also worked at Raiffeisenbank Niederösterreich and Fortis/BNP IP.
The additions to the multi-asset team complement a recent string of appointments to the European-focused distribution team at Schroders.
