Slow US growth and Fed ‘on hold’ to impact bond market – S&P Capital IQ
A slow return to growth and a Federal Reserve unwilling to apply higher interest rates anytime soon are among the key factors affecting US fixed income managers, according to a quarterly report by S&P Capital IQ.
Kate Hollis, director and head of global fixed income at S&P Capital IQ, said that the research pointed to duration positioning being a key driver of performance for US fixed income last year.
Mortgage backed securities offered a mixed performance, while managers avoided European bank issues, possibly because of contagion fears.
