Standard Life to launch EM equity fund

Standard Life Investments, an Edinburgh-based investment manager, will be launching an emerging markets equity fund.

The fund will invest primarily in equities and equity related securities of corporations domiciled in emerging markets or companies hold a significant portion of their assets in the Middle East, Asia, Africa or Latin America, or derive a significant proportion of their revenues and profits from these markets.

The Global Emerging Markets Equity Fund will be actively managed by Alistair Way, and will consist of a diversified portfolio of 60-100 stocks with stock, sector, country and tracking error limits.

Performance will be measured against the IMA Global Emerging Markets sector with the objective of providing capital growth.

Jacqueline Lowe, head of UK wholesale, Standard Life Investments, said: “Over recent years emerging market equities have gained in stature globally and are now considered to be mainstream investments. This is therefore an entirely logical development for the diversification of Standard Life Investments’ Wholesale offering.”
