Stonehage MFO pushes into Europe
London-based multi-family office Stonehage is pushing further into Continental Europe with the opening of an office in Luxembourg, based on the growth of Corporate Services business, and the hiring in Zurich of Richard Baldock, former executive vice-chairman of Rothschild Trust in Zürich, as executive director.
Niall McCallum, head of Corporate Services for the Stonehage Group, said Luxembourg is an important hub for clients and for the Stonehage Group because of its tax treaty network, innovative regulation and legislation, and structuring opportunities available.
Stonehage Corporate Services Luxembourg will extend the range of products and services available to clients. The Luxembourg office will be headed by Eric Osch, who joined from a major family office in Luxembourg. He has extensive experience of financial regulation, corporate finance and treasury operations. Osch is joined by Peter Egan from Jersey, who brings fund management, administration and investment experience.
In Zurich, Baldock joins after a 14-year career at Rothschild Trust, where he was responsible for client business worldwide. He was also a member of the Rothschild Executive Committee within Private Banking & Trust.
Prior to his move to Switzerland, Baldock was a practising solicitor in London. His appointment as key adviser to Stonehage’s ultra-high net worth international client families takes total Swiss staff compliment to over 150, double the staff count in 2006.
Stonehage is owned by management and staff, with 12 offices around the world. Established in 1976, the Group employs over 375 staff and manages the affairs of over 1,000 client families internationally.
