William Blair launches sixth Sicav fund to invest in small caps

William Blair has launched a Sicav fund to invest in global small cap growth equities, the sixth in its Sicav range.

The new Global Small Cap Growth fund will be actively managed by Andrew Flynn and Matthew Litfin.

Jeffrey Urbina will act as a senior advisor on the fund, with responsibility for portfolio strategy. Karl Brewer is also managing the fund in an advisory capacity.

The fund will be benchmarked against the MSCI AC World Small Cap Index.

The team will follow a high conviction, unconstrained investment approach, seeking to deliver alpha by investing in companies characterised by organic value creation, consistent earnings growth and high returns on capital and assets.

Michelle Seitz, head of William Blair Investment Management, said: “Opportunities are increasing in the small market capitalisation space. Our investment approach is ideally suited to this part of the market.”

The fund intends to invest in 80-120 holdings, each with a market capitalisation of less than $5bn, investing in a diverse range of geographies and sectors.

William Blair Asset Management currently manages more than $1.6bn in Sicav funds across six Sicav funds.

The other five strategies are: Global Leaders, US Small-Mid Cap Growth, US All-Cap Growth, Emerging Markets Growth and Emerging Markets Leaders.
