AXA IM appoints head of Japan
AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has appointed Francisco Arcilla as head of Japan.
He will be responsible for AXA IM’s distribution and business development in Japan and help expand AXA IM’s footprint in the country.
Arcilla replaces Mikifumi Watanabe who retires on 30 June.
Arcilla joined AXA IM in 2011 as global head of AXA IM’s Funds of Hedge Funds team before running the external managers group (EMG).
Since November 2014, he was director of Product Development at AXA Rosenberg.
Before joining the firm, Arcilla was co-head of Investments at Swiss alternative solutions boutique EIM SA. He also worked for Santander, KBC AIM, Hypovereinsbank and BNP Paribas.
He began his career in 1994 as an analyst in the investment banking division of Merrill Lynch.
Christophe Coquema, global head of Client Group, said: “Given our ambition for global growth, Japan is a crucially important region for AXA IM and we have worked hard to find the correct individual to replace Miki and take on this challenge.”
Andrea Rossi, CEO of AXA IM, added: “Francisco is very well placed to increase AXA IM’s visibility in Japan and build our franchise both with third party clients and with AXA Life Japan.”
