Martin Currie appoints director Asia Unconstrained Trust

Martin Currie Asia Unconstrained Trust has announced the appointment of Martin Shenfield as a non-executive director of the company.

Shenfield will contribute to implementing a shareholder resolution passed by Martin Currie Investors last year, which foresees a change of the company’s investment mandate and to adopt the Asia Long-Term Unconstrained strategy.

He joins from Lombard Street Research, where he most recently worked as senior macro strategist travelling extensively through Asia.

Portfolio manager Andrew Graham and his team are now unconstrained by any benchmark and aim to generate returns commensurate with Asia ex Japan nominal GDP growth, measured over three year rolling periods.

Harry Wells, chairman of the Martin Currie Asia Unconstrained Trust, commented: “We are very pleased to welcome Martin Shenfield as a director of the Company. He has a wealth of experience within the investment industry and strong specialist knowledge of Asia which should be invaluable in complementing the blend of skills and knowledge on the Board.”
