AXA IM appoints head of Pensions Europe

AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has appointed Erik Jan van Bergen as head of Pensions Europe.

He will head the company’s fiduciary management business and will develop AXA IM’s pensions business across Europe as of September 2016.

Van Bergen will split his time between Amsterdam, where he will be mainly based, and Paris. He will report to Mathilde Sauvé, head of Institutional Solutions at AXA IM.

Van Bergen joins AXA IM from Actiam where he was the chief investment officer and a board member from 2009.

Among other tasks, Van Bergen was in charge of asset allocation, manager selection, fixed income, real estate, equities and the firm’s sustainable investment policy.

He previously worked in the alternative credit team at Citigroup and has also been co-head of the Global Fixed Income Group at ING Investment Management.

AXA IM had €666bn in assets under management as of end March 2016.
