Candriam appoints head of Long Short Equity

Brussels-headquartered manager Candriam has appointed César Zeitouni as head of Long Short Equity.

Zeitouni joins from Exane AM where he launched and co-managed a TNT equity market neutral fund and where he co-managed a long-short fund for the past two years.

Zeitouni has worked for 22 years in the new technologies sector, where he was a consultant before becoming a fund manager. He started his career at Andersen Consulting, before joining PwC’s Telecommunications, Media and New Technologies group in 1995 as a management consultant.

He then returned to the asset management industry in 2001 to manage a long-only fund in the technology and telecom sectors at IT Asset Management.

Commenting on the appointment, Fabrice Cuchet, head of Alternative Management at Candriam, said : “We are delighted to welcome César to the Absolute Performance management team, at a time when such expertise is being increasingly regarded by investors as a strategic investment.”

“He is a highly experienced operator in the new technologies sector and in long short equity who has come to us to drive the launch of a new strategy in the field of the digitization of the economy.”

Candriam had €100.1bn of assets under management as of 30 September 2016.
