Degroof Petercam appoints head of Macro Research, chief economist leaves

Belgian group Bank Degroof has announced that Bruno Colmant will join the entity resulting from the merger between Degroof and Petercam as head of Macro Research.

He will also join the executive committee and will lead specific missions as group economic advisor. The appointment of Colmant is subject to authorities’ approval.

Colmant has been a partner at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and an academic advisor to the CEO of Ageas since 2009.

From 2007 to 2009, Colmant held executive roles of CEO Brussels Stock Exchange and member of the management committee of the New York Stock Exchange.

He has been staff chief at the cabinet of the Belgian Minister of Finance from November 2006 to September 2007. Prior to that, he held a number of positions at ING. Colmant started his career as an auditor at Arthur Andersen.

Bank Degroof has also announced that its collaboration with its chief economist and managing director Etienne de Callataÿ (pictured) will end as from 30 September 2015.

Callataÿ has been working at Degroof since 16 years. He stated in a press release that the merger between Degroof and Petercam was an opportunity for him to seek a new professional challenge.
