Former US under secretary quits ING supervisory role
Former US government Under Secretary for Economic, Business and Agricultural Affairs Joan E. Spero will quit Dutch banking and insurance group ING’s supervisory board.
She leaves on 1 June 2011, having held the position for three years. Spero chose to resign because it had become increasingly difficult to combine the position with her other US obligations, ING Group said.
Her other roles include non-executive director of IBM Corporation, Trustee of the Council on Foreign Relations at Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, Morgridge Institute for Research, and Trustee Emerita of Columbia University and Amherst College.
Alongside her earlier government post, Spero is recognised for her former role as executive vice-president for corporate affairs and communications at American Express.
