Franklin Templeton launches new share classes for Dutch market
Franklin Templeton Investments has launched seven new W share classes in its Sicav fund range in response to Dutch client demand.
Franklin Templeton Investment Funds Sicav fund range was extended in preparation for the proposed amendments to the Dutch Act on Financial Supervision.
These launches bring the total number of W share classes available to local investors to 33, following the recent move in June 2013 where 26 W share classes were made available to investors in this market.
The new share classes are available in the Sicav funds listed below, which invest in a wide range of developed and emerging markets equity and global bond products:
• Franklin European Growth Fund2 – W (acc) EUR
• Franklin Global Growth Fund2 – W (acc) EUR
• Franklin Mutual European Fund2 – W (Ydis) EUR
• Franklin US Equity Fund2 – W (acc) EUR
• Templeton Asian Growth Fund2 – W (Ydis) EUR
• Templeton Emerging Markets Fund2 – W (acc) USD
• Templeton Global Fund2 – W (Ydis) USD
The W share classes are ‘unbundled’ which means they do not carry any embedded payments (trail commission) to intermediaries. There will be no initial commission either. The ‘W’ share class has been created and is primarily suitable for wholesale investors and professional investors. The minimum investment is $3,000,000 (or currency equivalent), however, the minimum will be waived for fund platforms.
Franklin Templeton Investments also offers Z share classes which do not carry trail commission. The Z share class meets the needs of direct investors and advisors who do not use a fund platform, and is available to all investors and clients of intermediaries. Dutch investors can access Z shares for 36 SICAV funds which also invest in a wide range of developed and emerging markets equity and global bond products.
Dirk de Vlaam, head of Sales & Marketing, Netherlands said: “In anticipation of the proposed legislative changes in the Netherlands, we have seen significant client demand for clean W share classes over recent months.
“Thus we are pleased to be meeting that demand though these new launches, extending our range of clean W share classes to 33 and bringing our clients an even wider choice of products to match their investment needs. We will continue to assess demand, and may launch further clean share classes as appropriate.”
