IEPlus: Flemish company seeks backers for anti-bacterial process
The Flemish company Metatecta is seeking investors to support a patent it has developed around the control of environmental factors that form the basis of bacterial contamination in healthcare centres and hospitals.
Headquartered in Kontich, Belgium, Metatecta (Biotechnology) NV specializes in the use of natural organisms for treating and controlling microbiological indoor environments in buildings. By way of patented techniques, a formula of naturally selected microorganisms is turned into a spray, thus restoring the “BioBalance” in buildings.
Clinical research and scientific studies in collaboration with institutions such as K.U. Leuven University (Flemish Region, Belgium) and the Institut Louis Pasteur in Lille (French Flanders) have proven the method is also very effective in treating spaces contaminated by MRSA and CPE bacteria.
Editors Note: InvestmentEurope is interested to know more of the community activities of asset managers, especially those operating in Continental Europe. Each Friday afternoon we will run a series of “IEPlus” stories online at www.investmenteurope.net, which highlight this kind of involvement. If you have material to offer (text or video) for consideration please email it to email@example.com
The Flemish Agency for Care and Health reported 206 cases of CPE bacteria contamination in the first six months of 2012. This, along with MRSA contamination in Belgium, causes the death of approximately 2,600 patients a year, and appears to be extremely difficult to treat and control.
Metatecta claim to implement patented technology in medical and paramedical environments in both a preventive and problem-solving manner. Using thorough analysis of all potential infection sources in the environment of the resident/patient, all critical points are identified, treated and maintained over the long term using a BioBalance Management System.
Metatecta said in a statement that it is ready to apply this proven method in practice, and is actively looking for investors and/or partners.
