ING IM loses manager to Blackrock
BlackRock has continued its September recruitment spree by taking on Al Denholm from ING Investment Management to run its multi-asset client solutions team as managing director and regional head.
In this newly created role, Denholm will be working closely with Michael Huebsch, managing director and global head of BlackRock’s multi-asset client solutions team. Specifically, Denholm will be responsible for leading the team’s EMEA activities.
The multi-asset client solutions team’s four main functions include client strategy, solutions portfolio management, active asset allocation and research and business management.
Denholm will oversee these functions and assume responsibility for the active asset allocation and research team.
This is BlackRock’s third big hire since September. Last month it was announced BlackRock had taken on Ingo Heinen as managing director of its Alternative Investors group from the Royal Bank of Scotland.
It later transpired BlackRock had lured Simon White from German equity specialists RCM to be its head of investment trusts. He played a similar role while at RCM.
At ING Investment Management Denholm was a member of the four person leadership team responsible for overseeing ING IM’s investment management activities in over 20 countries.
He recently oversaw equity research and portfolio management in Europe, Japan and Australia, including trading activities for all asset classes in Europe, as well as multi-asset portfolio management.
In addition he oversaw the business management aspects of the global front office at ING IM, and played a leading role in portfolio management technology and infrastructure planning.
