Legg Mason adds to German distribution again
Legg Mason has strengthened its distribution team in Frankfurt for a third time this year, by appointing Richard von Bergmann-Korn from ING Investment Management, as director for business development focusing on wholesale buyers.
Legg Mason already made two hires in German distribution this year. Özlem Erdogan joined as client relationship manager, while Claudia Müller joined as distribution assistant.
These were the latest of various similar hires by rivals, keen to capture market share in the economically stronger, and therefore wealthier, ‘core Europe’.
Von Bergmann-Korn (pictured) joins from the Dutch manager to be responsible for the German-speaking regions of Europe. It is a newly created position.
At ING he was most recently senior sales director for retail business in Germany.
Von Bergmann-Korn reports to Klaus Dalmann, Legg Mason’s head of sales for Germany and Austria, and brings over 15 years’ experience in distribution of funds.
Von Bergmann-Korn has also worked as senior sales director for Pioneer Investments, where he worked on strategic partnerships with banks and family offices, and was responsible for expanding distribution co-operation with German and Austrian insurers.
He has also worked at AXA Investment Managers and Paribas Asset Management.
At Paribas his job was looking after clients at banks, funds of funds, broker pools and IFAs in Germany and Austria.
Dalmann said: “In Richard von Bergmann-Korn we have been able to win a very experienced distribution expert, valued by investors, for our team.”
