NN IP highlights sustainability strategy track record

NN Investment Partners has highlighted the ability of two of its sustainability strategies to beat their benchmarks, as the NN Global Sustainable Equity strategy achieved a 15-year track record and the NN European Sustainable Equity strategy reached a 10-year track record.

Both managed by Hendrik-Jan Boer, head of Sustainable Investments and senior portfolio manager Sustainable Equity, the strategies have respectively served up a gross annual average return of 3.55% versus 2.74% for the MSCI DM World Net index, and 7.69% versus 5.98% for the MSCI DM Europe Net index (figures to July).

NN IP noted that its AUM in sustainable equity strategies have risen to €2.2bn from €280m over four years.

Boer said: “ESG factors play a crucial role in our investment process,  providing us with the full picture of the risks and opportunities that a company faces. This has a positive effect on the risk-adjusted return characteristics of our strategies.”

“With a seven fold rise in assets in less than four years it is clear the quality-focused sustainable approach strongly appeals to our client base. In a market environment with increasing volatility we expect both the global and European sustainable equity strategy to continue to be an attractive option for investors.”
