Robeco appoints CFO

Asset manager Robeco has named Jurgen Stegmann as chief financial officer.

Stegmann will start his new role on 15 March 2011 – subject to the regulators’ approval, said the firm. He succeeds Constant Korthout who left Robeco in 2010 to join Van Lanschot Bankiers.

The legal, fiscal, finance, corporate development and planning, risk management, treasury and facilities and purchasing departments will report to him.

Previously, Stegmann was vice chairman of the managing board and chief risk officer at NIBC bank which he joined in 2000. Prior to this, he served the Fortis Bank Nederland since 1996 and was appointed to the member of the executive board in 1998. Before this, he was co-head of the corporate banking division and project manager at MeesPierson from 1992.

Chief executive Roderick Munsters said: “We set out our strategy in clear terms in 2010, and secured positive results for our clients and our shareholder. Supported by the recovering markets, Robeco will plough on in 2011. We are taking a strong and experienced CFO on board; Jurgen will provide the solid foundations needed for growth.”

Stegmann added: “It feels good to start working for an international player in my ‘very own’ Rotterdam. Robeco’s respectability has brought it safely through the crisis, and the company has now embarked on a period of growth again. It will be a pleasure to play a part in this and to make my contribution.”
