Berenberg poaches DWS fund manager
German private bank Berenberg has appointed Tim Albrecht as head of German Equities in Wealth and Asset Management.
Currently at DWS, Albrecht will join Berenberg on 1 January 2019 and report to Matthias Born, CIO Equities.
“Albrecht’s appointment is a clear reflection of our intention to become one of the best equity investment houses in Germany and Europe,” said Henning Gebhardt, head of Wealth and Asset Management at Berenberg.
Following a vocational training program for bankers and after studying business administration in Würzburg, Albrecht started his career in 2000 at DWS, the funds subsidiary of Deutsche Bank where he is currently head of Equities for the German-speaking countries. Before that he was head of German Equities and global sector head for Industrials, among other positions. As lead fund manager for DWS Investa, DWS Deutschland and DWS Aktien Strategie Deutschland he manages several DWS flagship funds, overseeing an investment volume of 14 billion euros.
Under Henning Gebhardt, who joined Berenberg from DWS in 2017, the bank has greatly expanded its Wealth and Asset Management operations. “With fund managers like Matthias Born, Peter Kraus, Andreas Strobl and now Tim Albrecht, we have an outstanding team of investment experts to drive our growth, with unique expertise in German and European equities,” added Gebhardt.
