Blackstone hires ex-M&S chief

Blackstone has appointed Marc Bolland as head of European Portfolio Operations of its private equity businesses.

Bolland was formerly chief executive of Marks & Spencer and previously chief executive of Morrisons and chief operating officer of Heineken.

The executive will start working for Blackstone on 19 September 2016. He he is expected to use his network of contacts in London and continental capitals to identify potential acquisitions and recruit board executives, Financial Times reported.

“We are delighted that Marc is joining us. He has had an outstanding career leading and developing major international businesses, and I am sure he will add great value to our current and future portfolio businesses,” said Joseph Baratta, global head of Private Equity at Blackstone.

“I look forward to working with its extraordinary team and the Blackstone owned businesses to drive growth and to add value for investors,” Marc Bolland said.
