BNY Mellon’s wealth management business has hired Yolande Escher as a wealth director focusing on sales and business development efforts throughout the European region.

Based in London she joins the International Wealth Management business headed by Managing Director Jeroen Kwist.

Escher assumes a newly created role as part of BNY Mellon Wealth Management’s global strategy, announced by CEO Larry Hughes in 2013, to grow its business development team by 50% by the first quarter of 2015.

Most recently, as part of its strategic growth initiative, the business also greatly expanded its Hong Kong operations and opened a new office in Silicon Valley, the nexus of tech and innovation in the US.

Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Escher was a director at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management in London where she led a sales team of nine professionals focused on the “resident non-domiciled” market in the United Kingdom.

Previously, Escher held progressively responsible roles with UBS Global Wealth Management and Business Banking in London and Zurich. In her most recent position with UBS, she was director and client advisor to international high-net worth and ultra-high net worth clients, principally in Southwest Asia.

Escher graduated from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland with a major in Finance and earned a master’s in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, India.
