CPR AM launches EM equities fund

Amundi’s thematic boutique CPR AM has launched the CPR Gear Emergents fund, aiming to invest in emerging markets equities and to outperform the MSCI Emerging Markets over a five-year period.

The fund is managed by Rodolphe Taquet, head of Global Equities at CPR AM and Seiha Lok, global equities portfolio manager.

The portfolio is composed of 120 stocks picked from an initial universe of 2,000 stocks.

Taquet said that even though emerging markets currently face bad times, some emerging countries’ economies will stabilise over the coming months with more stable local currencies and domestic consumption increasing. He highlighted that EM countries’ growth still stand at a higher point than those of developed markets.

Mexico, Thailand and India are currently favoured in the fund. As for sectors, Lok added daily consumer goods, public services and healthcare remain attractive.

CPR AM managed €35bn in assets as at end June 2015.
