Diam International launches Ucits Japanese equity fund
Diam International, the London based subsidiary of Asian asset manager Diam has launched a Ucits Japanese equity strategy, the Diam Japan Stock Pick Concentrated Equity Portfolio.
The fund, domiciled in Luxembourg, is Diam International’s first Ucits-compliant. The firm has unveiled plans to launch several Ucits funds over the coming months for institutional investors based in the EMEA region.
The DIAM Japan Stock Pick Concentrated Equity Portfolio aims to capture gains through investment in growth companies and relies on a bottom-up research-based stock picking that identifies companies with a value gap between their stock price and intrinsic value.
The fund is advised Tomoaki Kouta, senior portfolio manager based in Tokyo.
Diam managed around $70bn (€62.1bn) of assets in Japanese equity strategies at the end of 2015.
Martin Pattinson, head of Relationship Management, EMEA at Diam International said : “Diam International are committed to evolving our business to meet the needs of our clients and launching UCITS is an important part of this strategy.
“This competitive Japanese equity strategy is the first of several Japanese, Asian and liquidity funds that we are planning to launch to meet client demand.”
Diam had over $148bn (€131.3bn) in assets under management as of end March 2016.
