The Janus Global Unconstrained Bond Fund has been opened to subscriptions to investors in Europe, excluding Switzerland, via the Janus Capital Funds plc range.

The fund is managed by Bill Gross, who recently joined Janus from Pimco, which he co-founded and where he managed the world’s biggest bond fund.

Janus’ fund is a global macro bond fund, which takes an unconstrained approach to fixed income investing, and is intended to provide flexible duration, and absolute return focus, and looks for investment opportunities globally. By looking for assets that have low correlation to traditional assets, it is intended to offer diversification from core fixed income.

Augustus Cheh, president of Janus Capital International Ltd, said: “We’re extremely excited now to be offering the Janus Global Unconstrained Bond fund to our growing and diverse international client base. Bill’s unconstrained and duration managed strategy could be considered to be a key component to any client portfolio given the interest rate environment. The fund is highly complementary to the very successful fixed income franchise that we have built out over the last decade under the leadership of Fixed Income CIO, Gibson Smith.”
