DWS bolsters infrastructure team with senior appointment

DWS has appointed Thomas Kalthöfer as investment director within its global infrastructure investment business.

Based in London, Kalthöfer will join the Pan European Infrastructure (PEIF) investment team which currently manages PEIF II, a closed-end fund focusing on unlisted European infrastructure investments that closed in 2017 with €2.5bn available to invest. It was the follow-on product to PEIF I which closed in 2007.

The appointment of Kalthöfer comes as DWS continues to invest in its infrastructure business, having made a total of nine appointments over the past 12 months. Kalthöfer is a seasoned infrastructure professional who has worked on a number of notable transactions and has extensive knowledge of DWS’s German home market.

He has worked for the past 14 years in M&A and Corporate Finance at Barclays where he was most recently responsible for origination and execution of strategic energy and infrastructure transactions in the DACH region, alongside responsibility for client coverage.

DWS has €73bn in alternative investments (as of 24 Oct 2018). Its infrastructure investment business has invested in infrastructure assets for over 25 years and provides clients with solutions including private equity infrastructure, listed infrastructure and infrastructure debt.
