Eurozone PMI stagnant in December

The Markit PMI index for December sketches a mixed picture, with the French and Italian economy slowing down, while the Irish and Greek economy showed signs of improvement, the overall eurozone index remained stagnant at 50.6 points.

Ireland and Greece showed the strongest signs of recovery, with the PMI index reaching a four month high of 56.9 and 49.4 points respectively.

Meanwhile, the Italian manufacturing index dropped to a 19 month low of 48.4 while the French index declined to a four month low of 47.5 points.
