AXA IM reshuffles management

Paris-headquartered AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has announced a number of appointments at a management level.

Isabelle Scemama has been named CEO of AXA IM – Real Assets, effective immediately and replacing Pierre Vaquier, who leaves the firm to pursue other interests.

Vaquier worked at AXA IM – Real Estate since its creation in 1999. AXA’s property subsidiary managed over €70bn in assets as of end of September 2016.

Heidi Ridley has been appointed CEO of AXA IM Rosenberg Equities with Kathleen Houssels as global CIO, both effective as of 1 March 2017, succeeding Jeremy Baskin, who is leaving AXA IM.

Both Scemama and Ridley will report to Andrea Rossi, CEO of AXA IM, with Houssels reporting to Heidi.

Scemama joined AXA IM in 2001 to head real estate fund structuring and financing.

She has held a number of roles within the company including most recently CEO of AXA REIM SGP, the French regulated entity of AXA IM – Real Assets. As such, she was responsible for the funds group which includes a wide range of real estate funds.

Ridley joined AXA IM in 2003 to lead AXA IM – Rosenberg Equities’ mutual fund business in the US. She has been global COO and chief of staff for AXA IM – Rosenberg Equities since 2011. Her duties included supporting the CEO in the management of AXA IM – Rosenberg Equities business and operations globally.

Houssels, working at AXA IM since 1999, has been head of Research and Investment Models at AXA IM – Rosenberg Equities since 2012 and has been a member of Rosenberg Equities’ Investment Committee since 2002.

She is responsible for overseeing advanced factor and stock selection models, new model and strategy development, and research.

Adrien Paredes-Vanheule is deputy editor and French-Speaking Europe Correspondent for InvestmentEurope, covering France, Belgium, Geneva and Monaco. Prior to joining InvestmentEurope, he spent almost five years writing for various publications in Monaco, primarily as a criminal and financial court reporter. Before that, he worked for newspapers and radio stations in France, in particular in Lyon.
